I have always been happiest on the road.

Sometimes the road is asphalt, sometimes virtual, but this will be my first ever transatlantic crossing. This is a major road. Downton Abbey here I come.

For those of you who followed my recent road trip up 95, you know that I can’t fly because I had retinal surgery. That sucked, but this is now the second road trip as a result, and that doesn’t suck.

As background, this boat ride is on the Queen Victoria, a Cunard ship. It is known as the “winter crossing” because it’s the only crossing until May. I assume that’s the case because most people don’t want to be on the rough seas of the North Atlantic in the winter.

In fact, a friend who worked for Cunard told me this particular crossing has the highest margins because a lot of people spend the trip in their cabins, unable to eat or consume alcohol. God forbid.
